6th Iherian Conference on Health Economics For the last five years, Spanish and Portuguese professional health people, interested in health economics, have met every year to discuss problems and exchange ideas with respect to health economics. The 6th Iberian conference will take place in Valencia, Spain in May 1986 at the Facultad de Ciencias Economicas y Empresariales, University of Valencia. The conference will focus on: “Public and Private Sectors in the Health Sector”. European Society of Medical Decision-Making Following the North-American example, a European Society of Medical Decision-Making will soon be launched. The European Society will differ from its North-American counterpart by the emphasis it intends to place on practical application of medical decision-analysis in the delivery of health care. The aims of the European Society are: on clinical decision-analysis, utility 1. to promote the exchange of research and information analysis, and aspects of medical decision-making in health economics and health technology assessment; 2. to facilitate the exchange of experience with respect to education in medical decisionmaking; 3. to stimulate the application of medical decision-making theory in the daily work of healthcare practitioners; 4. to obtain grants for researchers in the field of medical decision-making; and 5. to organize scientific, educational, and other appropriate kinds of meetings and publish a Newsletter. The first meeting of the European Society is planned Leiden, The Netherlands in the Spring 1986.
