This forms a mixture of the pre-ceramic polymer and interface materialcoated reinforcing fibres. moulding an exhaust manifold-shaped structure from the mixture by placing the mixture on at least a portion of the castahle material, and firing the structure. The manifolds produced are resistant to erosion, minor impacts, and thermal shock.

In order to study the effect of gunning distance and particle size on the melting of refractory particles, a temperature model was developed. The model is useful for selection of gunning distance and particle size for the repair of refractory brick wall in metal smelting furnaces.

Higgins, R. J. ef al. Proc, Annu. Int. Pirtshrrrgh Coal Conf:. 1996, 13, (2). 1272-1277. A bench-scale transport reactor was used to study the operational characteristics of a hot gas desulfurization process involving regenerable sorbent injection and its subsequent collection with a ceramic filtration device. Hydrogen sulfide removal from simulated hot gas was evaluated as a function of both zinc oxide-based sorbent physical and chemical characteristics and various process parameters. In addition, the sorbent capture efficiency and regenerability of the ceramic filtration device were evaluated, and regeneration of sulfided sorbents via injection into an oxidizing gas was studied. The ceramic filtration devices captured 100% of all sorbent particles and were fully regenerable over periods of several tens of injectionibackpulse cleaning cycles.

(In Polish) Prior to the zeolite 4A synthesis, cellulose, colloidal silica, alumina, coal, and brown coal texture modifiers were added to clay minerals to induce a change in the texture. The efficiency of zeolite synthesis was improved with this method and the number of transport pores and sorption capacity increased.

Socher, H. J. Technik am Bau, November 1996, 11, 59-63. In order to conserve primary energy, adiabatic air humidification is being used increasingly in air conditioning. Issues concerning health-related and economic aspects of adiabatic humidification and humidification techniques are discussed. The different types of adiabatic humidifier are presented, providing details of their advantages and disadvantages. The hybrid humidifier, based on combined atomization and evaporation, which overcomes the drawbacks of conventional adiabatic humidifiers is discussed in detail.

Hartmann, K. Ki Luft. Klimatech.. November 1996, 32, (I I), 50%514.(In German) Despite having similar characteristics, the zeotrope refrigerant R107C is not suitable as a straightforward drop-in replacement for R22. For trouble-free compressor performance, the differing aolubility of the refrigerant into synthetic has to taken into account and at start-up the oil pump has to handle increased demand. Difference in heat transfer are witnessed through precise measurements, where better performance is seen in plate heat exchangers than in plate tin coils and shell and tube exchangers. Several heat exchanger configurations and numerous lahoratorg te\ts results show that expressing capacity changes in general percentage terms is not useful and that simply changing the refrigerant in RI2 systems results in an inferior coefficient of performance.

Silveira, J. L. ef ul. Fuel, 1997, 76, (5) 447-451. The paper introduces a method for studying the technical and economic feasibility of absorption refrigeration systems in compact cogenerators. An internal combustion engine, an electric generator and a heat exchanger to recover residual heat from the refrigeration water and exhaust gases form the basis of the system. A computer simulation of the cogeneration system in a building which already has 75kW of installed electric power was developed. System performance is simulated utilizing diesel oil. sugar cane alcohol and natural gas as possible fuels. 97103161 CCI market review-condensing units Anon Clima. Comm. Aumann, D. J. ASHRAE Tra?~arlv., 1996, 102. Part. 2, SA-96-I I-?. 649-662. A manual calculation method for estimating the combustion-related emissions and source energy use of gas and electric chillers is detailed.
The primary objective of the operation of water-fed chilled ceilings is to coordinate the operation of the chilled ceiling, ventilation and heating systems. without allowing condensation to form on the ceiling or in the ceiling void as a result of excess humidity in the air. The author raises important questions to consider when designing the room controls. Methods of controlling the cooling output of the chilled ceiling are addressed.
