The article we wrote contained two figures that had been redrawn from previous publications. Figure 2 was based on an illustration created originally by Jef Dirig that appeared in R. D. Reynolds’ article in the ]aurnaZ of Family Practice (our reference number 71, and Figure 1 was based on an illustration in the article by U. Praptohardjo and S. Wibowo in Contraception (our reference number 11). We erred in failing to seek permission from the respective copyright holders to use these figures in this way and to paraphrase the legends, and we deeply regret this ethical lapse. The amateur artist involved was unaware of copyright rules. Although the oversight was inadvertent, as authors we accept full responsibility for it, and we hereby express our apologies to the authors, artists, journals, and publishers involved, as well as to the readers of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
