EDITORIAL BOARD OUTLOOK A Few Minutes With Donna Watson MSN, RN, CNOR, ARNP-BC
BIOGRAPHY I have held a variety of perioperative nursing positions, including staff nurse, clinical instructor, clinical educator, and nurse practitioner. My current position as a global manager for Covidien Energybased Devices allows me to deliver the message of the importance of electrosurgical patient safety to members of the perioperative team around the world. I enjoy writing and have authored numerous articles, chapters, and books, and I was the Patient Safety First column coordinator for the AORN Journal from 2009 to 2010. Answer: As the business model for nursing journals is redefined by technology and the demands of the subscriber, the future of the AORN Journal may include additional touch points for the more than 40,000 AORN members. These currently include point of access for print and online; however, in the future, I anticipate demand for access on different tablet formats, mobile downloading, and bundling with other national and international nursing journals of specific interest to the subscriber. There are no limits to how the AORN Journal can be made available to continue to have a global impact on safe care and better outcomes for the patient.
