Functi’ons of Classical Gases. DAVID RUELLE, Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, New Jersey. The limit of an infinite system is investigated for the correlation functions of a classical system of particles with two-body central interaction. Analyticity properties in the activity are proved, which imply the existence of a gas phase and the convergence of the virial expansion. Correlation
of Baryon States. R. E. CUTKOSKY, Department of Physics, Carnegie Institute of Technology, Schenley Park, Pittsburgh 13, Pennsylvania. A self-consistent dynamical model of baryon states which incorporates the octet scheme of SU, symmetry is constructed. It is shown that R invariance is not compatible with selfconsistency, but that the mixing parameters can be chosen self-consistently. The model gives baryon mass differences which agree qualitatively with those observed. The assignment of the PS,Z baryonmeson resonances to a tenfold supermultiplet is unambiguously predicted. The predicted widths of these levels, and, in particular, the Yi* branching ratio, are in good agreement with observation. The widths of the DE/S resonances are also discussed. A Model
