Images of Spine Care A rare location: isolated multiple psammomatous meningiomas A 13-year-old girl presented to the neurosurgery clinic with progressive motor weakness and sensation disturbance. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed multiple intradural extramedullary mass at the cervicothoracal
region causing cord compression (Figs. 1 and 2). The lesions were hyperintense on T2-weighted (T2W) and hypointense on T1-weighted (T1W) images (Fig. 1). After injection of contrast agent, magnetic resonance imaging showed a homogenous enhancement in masses (Fig. 2). Pathologic specimens obtained at surgery showed psammomatous meningiomas. Isolated multiple spinal meningiomas are very rare but have been reported [1].
Fig. 1. Sagittal T2-weighted (T2W) (Left) and T1-weighted (T1W) (Right) magnetic resonance images of a 13-year-old girl. The mass was hypointense on T1W images and hyperintense on T2W images.
