home economics in Indiana, returned to Purdue for her M.S. degree in foods and nutrition. She received her Ph.D. in nutrition from the University of California at Berkeley. She is a member of the American Institute of Nutrition and the Institute of Food Technologists as well as several other professional and honor societies related to foods and nutrition. Her major research interest is protein-energy interrelationships. earned her bachelor's degree in dietetics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her master's and Ph.D. degrees in biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin. As a professor in food science and nutrition at the University of Minnesota, she teaches human nutrition courses, advises undergraduate and graduate students, and conducts research in human nutrition and nutrient metabolism. She is active in many professional organizations and currently serves as an officer ofthe American Institute of Nutrition and as chair of the Committee on Use of the RDAs for the National Academy of Sciences. She has served on advisory committees for the USDA on nutrition program evaluation, for industry on consumer issues, and for the State of Minnesota on nutrition education and training as well as other nutrition and health issues. PATRICIA B. SWAN
earned bachelor's degrees from the Universities of Saskatchewan and of Alberta, a master's degree in home economics education from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in family ecology and education from Michigan State University. As a professor at the University of Saskatchewan, she teaches educational methods as well as communications, especially involving the use of radio and television, for dietetic, nutrition, and other students. She has conducted field projects and research in evaluation of learning, parent education, radio instruction, gerontology, and communication competencies. She has been chairperson of the Saskatchewan Curriculum Committee for Home Economics. In 1976 the Canadian College of Teachers named her as a Fellow and in 1980 the Canadian Home Economics Association presented her their Honor Award. She is a member of professional organizations in nutrition, education, and communication WANDA YOUNG

and has served as president of local, provincial, and national Home Economics Associations and as vice president of the International Federation for Home Economics. received his B.S. in psychology from the University of Illinois and his M.S. and Ph.D. in psychology from Illinois Institute of Technology. Presently he is a professor of consumer sciences at the University of California at Davis where he teaches in the area of food product development and consumer behavior. He also consults with industry and government on product development and on consumer affair issues. His present research interests include methodology for the measurement of food intake patterns and of food supplement usage.
