Meet your 2006-2007 ACRM Board of Governors

The ACRM Nominating Committee announces a call for four Board of Governors positions and three Nominating Committee positions with service starting at the conclusion of the 2007 annual conference. Newly elected or re-elected Board members will be required to attend the Board of Governor's Full Board meeting on Sunday, October 7, 2007 in Washington, DC at the conclusion of the 2007 annual conference in Washington, DC. Gold Key Award This award was established in 1932 as a certificate of merit for members of the medical and allied professions who have rendered extraordinary service to the cause of rehabilitation. It is the highest honor given by ACRM. This individual does not need to be an ACRM member. ACRM Distinguished Member Award Established in 1988 to honor those who have significantly contributed to the development and functioning of ACRM, demonstrated evidence of leadership skills, organizational abilities, and public service. The recipient must be an ACRM member. Edward Lowman Award This award was established in 1989 honor of Edward Lowman, MD, who recognized the importance of multidisciplinary teams in rehabilitation. This award is for someone whose career reflects an energetic promotion of the spirit of interdisciplinary rehabilitation. This person must be an ACRM member. Deborah L. Wilkerson Early Career Award for Rehabilitation Research This award recognizes an ACRM member who is within 10 years of completion of training and has demonstrated significant contributions to rehabilitation research in his/her early career work. The winner receives a cash award and presents during the paper platform presentations at the annual conference. ACRM established a memorial fund to honor Deborah L. Wilkerson, a beloved member, former President (2003), and ACRM Fellow (2005). Deborah had many interests but was particularly devoted to improving the quality of rehabilitation and independent living services for people who needed them. She had a commitment to person-centered services and was an advocate for individuals with disabilities.
