Ah e ch an-s1 ’ ‘d e modification of a partial denture to receive an additional tooth is a time-saving procedure. METHOD 1. Seat the denture in the mouth, make an alginate (irreversible hydrocolloid) “pick-up” impression. Pour a cast and separate (Fig. 1).

2. Form a piece of .036-gauge orthodontic wire into a U shape. It must be long enough to extend from the edentulous space on the cast to overlap the major connector by 3 to 4 mm (Fig. 2). 3. Use a Carborundum disk to cut two shallow grooves in the major connector to receive the “leg” portions of the wire, and clean the contact areas with a rubber wheel. 4.
