ADVANCE ONLINE PUBLICATION DIGITAL OBJECT IDENTIFIER

(001)

Since February 2007, all scientific content published in the Canadian journal of Ophthalmology (CjO) carry a unique identification in a DOl string, for example, doi: 1O.3129/can j ophthalmol.i07-048. WHAT IS

DOl?

The Digital Object Identifier (DOl) connects users to primary research content by enabling publishers to work collectively through CrossRef, which is the official DOI@ link registration agency for scholarly and professional publications. It operates a cross-publisher citation linking system that allows a researcher to click on a reference citation on one publisher's platform and link directly to the cited content on another publisher's platform, subject to the target publisher's access control practices. This citationlinking network today covers millions of articles and other content items from several hundred scholarly and professional publishers. (Source: http://www.crossref.orgl) CjO articles published online ahead of print will be available on PubMed and can be cited using the DOl, for example: Mikelberg, FS. Assessment of the optic disc to measure neuroprotection. Can j Ophthalmol2007;42(3):421-4. doi:l0.3129/can j ophthalmol.i07-048. The CjO is pleased to offer this service to its accepted authors.
