These publications pertaining to distribution of health manpower were recently published by the National Health Council (NHC), prepared as part of NHC's Health Manpower Distribution Project. Both publications were prepared under contract with the Bureau of Health Manpower, HRA, HEW. Single copies
are free when requested by health or educational institutions or health science students. The Roster of Placement Programs lists placement services which help to match graduating health professions students and professionals with positions and practice locations in shortage areas. The Listing of Financial Incentives describes various financial incentives for health professions students with emphasis on state-sponsored loan cancellation or forgiveness programs. These programs are listed by state and discipline. Other categories are decentralized training programs, special courses focusing on rural and / or inner-city care, innovative delivery systems, and state and local efforts which combine a variety of incentives.
Pharmacy Dean, University of Pittsburgh. The University of Pittsburgh invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the School of Pharmacy. The School enrolls about 400 undergraduates and 50 graduate students within a large university Health Center composed of six Health Schools and six affiliated hospitals. The Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the School, responsible for educational programs at baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral levels, as well as for continuing education, research and public service activities. Candidates for the position of Dean, which is currently open, should possess an earned PhD degree or its equivalent in a pharmacy-related discipline, and demonstrated scholarship, research and teaching ability, recognition within the profession, and evidence of administrative and leadership potential.
