AFS is co-sponsoring - with INDA - the Filtration 95 Conference and Expo. This year the event is taking place November 28 - 29 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Chicago, Illinois. The event will attract OEMs, filter media manufacturers, fabricators, converters, distributors, dealers, machinery manufacturers and base material suppliers. The conference and the exposition will both feature air and liquid filter media and filtration systems. Topics being discussed will include air filtration, dust collection, hot gas filtration, industrial wastewater, drinking water, membranes and filter media. The meeting will also see Dr George Chase hand over the AFS Chairmanship to Al Holcomb of the 3M Company, who will steer the Society through 1996. The 1996 AFS annual technical meeting will be held April 21- 24 in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania at the Valley Forge Hilton, with the theme ‘Technology wins’. Attendees are expected from academia, industry, government and the consulting world, and from all over the world. The Society will hold its 1996 Education Meeting on May 14 - 17 in Akron, Ohio. The meeting is aimed at corporate and industrial sponsors, university professors and others interested in training engineers in the theory and technology of filtration and separation. Short courses will be presented on material assembled for two of the four textbooks which the Society is developing. Draft copies of the text material will be provided on Course 1 (Particulate and Interfacial Science & Engineering) and on Course 3 (Flows Through Porous Media). Participants are requested to bring an example problem or case study that may be suitable for inclusion in the text. The registration fee is $900 for both courses or $500 for one course. The first course is scheduled for May 14 - 15, and the second for May 16 - 17. The fee includes breakfast each day, and dinners on Tuesday and Thursday. The fee is reduced for university professors. Guide

The 1995 Buyer’s Guide contains information aimed at specifiers, purchasers and users of filtration and separation products and equipment. It includes source name and location information, as well as catalogs from 38 of the Society’s Corporate Sponsors. Each guide has an introduction with a simplified training course and glossary to educate the novice, and to serve as a reference for more experienced users. It covers Fluid/particle separation equipment; Solid/liquid separation; Cake filtration and dewatering; Testing system characteristics; and Selection techniques for solid/liquid separation. It is available at a nominal charge of $75 for non-members, $60 for members, and $45 for Corporate Sponsors and their employees. Orders can be placed by fax or mail via the AFS Secretariat.
