The Scientific Program for the Pediatric Otolaryngology Committee will present a program focusing on clinically relevant topics for the general otolaryngologist. A panel of experts in their areas will present topics including current management of head and neck infections and otitis media caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Clinical practice implications and impact on surgical management will be discussed. Management of obstructive airway disease in patients with complex underlying medical problems will be discussed, including patients with Down syndrome and cor pulmonal e. Recommendations for hospitalization and liabil-
ity concerns will be presented. Pediatric airway endoscopy will be presented, with a discussion of anesthesia techniques, use of laser, equipment needs, pathology, and differences between pediatric and adult endoscopy. Current topics in otitis media will be presented, including a discussion of the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research Guidelines on Otitis Media with Effusion in Children and the Kleinman article on medical appropriateness of tympanostomy tubes. Time for discussion will be reserved at the end of the presentations. Presenters include Orval E. Brown, MD, John Donaldson, MD, David Parsons, MD, Michael Poole, MD, PhD, and Kenneth Grundfast, MD.

Our Academy has been concerned about the effect of air pollution on human health. This presentation will discuss both clinical disorders associated with body organs and systems and management strategies for these disorders.
