The study of the level of immunoglobulins (Ig) G,A and M in the serum of pregnant women suffering from Diabetes mellitus is of very significant interest compared to levels in normal pregnancy in that they contain a specific type of antibody. The concentration of the main classes of Igs in non-diabetic pregnant women with different stages of the disease was determined during the 2 nd half of pregnancy. Analyses showed that the concentration of the various classes was markedly higher in diabetic pregnant women than in the control group: which is an indication that during pregnancy there is the occurrence of sharp changes in humoral immune responses and in particular rises in level of IgG,A and M. Changes in humoral immune responses is relative to the stage of the disease. After a complete pathogenetic treatment of diabetic microangiopathy and normalisation of carbohydrate metabolism the levels of Igs also tend to normalise. Of more significance is the change in the level of Ig G which tends to be very high in the very severe stages of the disease. It is more likely that abnormalities occurring in the placental barrier with increasing severity of the disease is the cause. After treatment aimed at normalising carbohydrate metabolism humoral immune responses normalised; an indication of improved function of the placenta. Keywords:
