Amec Foster Wheeler secures Turkish gold mine contract

An ultrafiltration (UF) system will be supplied to a power plant in New Jersey to treat secondary effluent in order to produce 0.375 MGD (1420 m3/day) of process water for cooling towers and boiler applications. The system will integrate FiberFlex technology developed by H2O Innovation, allowing membrane module interchangeability. A second system will be provided to a refinery in New Mexico and will produce 500 gpm (1.9 m3/min) of process water. The reverse osmosis (RO) system supplied by H2O Innovation will be installed on the concentrate stream of a primary RO unit and will act as a brine concentrator to capture useable water from a waste stream. H2O Innovation’s Bio-Brane technology will also be integrated into a wastewater treatment system for a municipality in Saskatchewan, Canada. A H2O Innovation team is currently working on the engineering and design phase of this project. Meanwhile H2O Innovation will undertake a nanofiltration water treatment project for Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, in Quebec province, Canada. The H2O Innovation system will produce 1.64 MGD (6200 m3/day) of potable water from a surface water source. The manufacturing phase of this project will be preceded by a three-month validation piloting period.
Suez Environnement awarded Croatian contracts

uez Environnement and its partner Gradnja Osijek are to design and build a wastewater treatment plant in Osijek, Croatia. The plant, which will be co-funded by the European Union and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which will be ready in 2018. It will have the capacity to treat 40 000 m3/ day of wastewater produced by a population equivalent of 170 000. The station, which will treat carbon pollution, nitrates and phosphates, will be equipped with an anaerobic digester and a system to dehydrate sludge for reuse as energy. Suez Environnement will also supervise the construction of a wastewater treatment network and plant and the renovation of the water distribution network in Vukovar, Croatia.

Kruger upgrades Rhode Island plant with ACTIFLO

ruger Inc, Veolia’s US municipal solutions provider, is to install two 12.5 MGD ACTIFLO systems for an advanced wastewater treatment facility phosphorus removal upgrade in Warwick, Rhode Island, USA. The installation will feature two 12.5 MGD Veolia designed process treatment trains complete with controls, mixers, chemical and microsand feed equipment. The system will treat secondary effluent with total phosphorus as high as 1.5 mg/L down to an effluent limit of < 0.10 mg/L.
Aquarion sets up Middle East subsidiary in UAE

Following a review of Fortescue’s water requirements, the rental agreement has been converted into a longer term build, own and operate contract. “The amalgamation of the original rental contract to a build own operate contract is a result of a great working relationship between Fortescue and Osmoflo, which already spans over four years,” said Osmoflo managing director Marc Fabig. The new 4500 m3/day seawater desalination plant, inclusive of intake and pre-treatment, gives Fortescue additional capacity to supply third parties within the Port Hedland region. The plant is set to be completed and fully operational by July.

Amec Foster Wheeler’s work will include detailed engineering and procurement activities and the preparation of an open book estimate which will serve as the basis for the subsequent project phases. This initial phase of work is set to finish in late 2015, with the overall project due for completion during the fourth quarter of 2017.
