Technip secures large subsea contract for Australian offshore project

T

echnip has won a large subsea contract from Woodside to support the development of the Greater Enfield Project offshore Western Australia, at a water depth of 340– 850m. The contract covers project management, design, engineering, procurement, installation and pre-commissioning (EPIC) of a carbon steel production flowline, a carbon steel water injection flowline, flexible risers and flowlines totalling 82.2 km; 38.9 km of umbilicals (dynamic and static); subsea structures and valves; and the transport and installation of a multi-phase pump system. Technip’s operating centre in Perth, Australia will execute the contract with support from Technip’s Asia Pacific Subsea Hub in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the company’s office in Chennai, India.

Deep water discovery for Shell in Gulf of Mexico

S

hell has announced a new exploration discovery in the deep water US Gulf of Mexico. The initial estimated recoverable resources for the Fort Sumter well are more than 125 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe). Shell says that further appraisal drilling and planned wells in adjacent structures could considerably increase recoverable potential in the vicinity of the Fort Sumter well.

ExxonMobil to increase production at Texas refinery

E

xxonMobil is planning to increase production of ultra-low sulfur fuels at its Beaumont refinery in Texas, USA by approximately 40 000 barrels per day.

Construction is scheduled during the second half of 2016 to install a selective cat naphtha hydrofining unit, which uses a proprietary catalyst system to remove sulfur while minimizing octane loss. Startup of the flexible SCANfining technology is expected in 2018.

Enagás explores Gaviota underground storage facility upgrade

A

mec Foster Wheeler is to undertake a study to revamp Enagás Transporte SAU’s gas treatment facility, part of their Gaviota underground storage plant in northern Spain. The Amec Foster Wheeler study, to be completed this year, will assess the current capacity of the facility to meet new European standards and any requirements for improvement.

Amec Foster Wheeler wins contract to expand Turkish gold mine

A

mec Foster Wheeler has been awarded a reimbursable engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract by Anagold Madencilik for the Çöpler Sulfide Expansion Project to expand and extend the life of the Çöpler Gold Mine in Turkey. The Amec Foster Wheeler scope of work will include detailed engineering, procurement, construction management services and support during commissioning and performance testing. The Çöpler Sulfide Expansion Project is due for mechanical completion in the second quarter of 2018 and will start production in the third quarter of 2018. This award follows Amec Foster Wheeler’s completion of basic engineering and procurement activities.

July 2016
