K-based Aesseal Plc recently launched its patent pending EasyClean seal support system – claimed to provide a unique, costeffective way of improving hygiene standards in the pharmaceuticals, and food and beverage industries. Despite the requirements of these industries to maintain a high level of hygiene in production lines and throughout their factories, it is frequently the case that the seal support systems harbour dirt and bacteria on the interior of the main vessel. This is because of their inherently enclosed design, which makes them difficult to inspect, clean, and maintain high levels of hygiene. The EasyClean vessel is ideal for companies that require more control over the level of hygiene in their plants. A detachable lower section enables the vessel to be taken apart for inspection and cleaning. This removable lower section enables manufacturers to quickly inspect and clean their systems without severely impacting on costs, production or product quality, whilst also eliminating the harmful build up of dirt and bacteria.

range of engineering components and related technical and logistics services, has acquired Advanced Sealing Inc through its wholly owned operating company Lewis-Goetz & Co Inc, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Eriks says this acquisition provides highquality products and a professional, customerfocused workforce, further strengthening LewisGoetz’s position in the market place. Advanced Sealing is a full-spectrum manufacturer and distributor of fluid sealing products to refining, chemical processing, power-generating and wastewater treatment facilities. It provides a broad product mix, including metallic and nonmetallic flange gaskets, valve packings, metallic and elastomeric hoses, stud bolts, hex nuts, steam traps and heat exchanger gaskets. The firm focuses in particular on fugitive emission products, proven to meet and exceed today’s demanding LDAR sealing standards. Advanced Sealing was incorporated in 1988 and has US-based facilities located in Cerritos, California and Pascagoula, Mississippi.

MG Advanced Metallurgical Group Nv reports that its AMG Intellifast GmbH subsidiary has finalised a long-

term supply agreement with Premium Aerotec GmbH to supply advanced systems to measure load control pathways during the manufacture of airframe components. Under this five-year agreement AMG Intellifast will supply ultrasonic products to provide precise measurements of the clamp load of the fasteners that are critical to maintain and monitor the Airbus A380 jet airliner’s wing flaps. ‘We are excited about the opportunity to provide our innovative metallurgical technology to the aerospace industry and Premium Aerotec,’ commented Dr Markus Holz, President, AMG Engineering. ‘It is our belief that this agreement, and future agreements, will serve the strategic interests of both companies.’ AMG Intellifast’s technology enables the fast and accurate measurement of the clamp load in bolted joints used in critical applications. Using ultrasonic measurement techniques, the company equips standard bolts with a permanently mounted ultrasonic transducer, which can provide accurate clamp load measurement during assembly and in the field. This provides precise information about the condition of the bolted joint and enables the use of reduced tightening, lighter materials and smaller fasteners – all of which are important factors in aerospace applications. Bal Seal achieves NACE compliance for select oilfield applications

B

al Seal Engineering Inc, a US producer of custom-engineered sealing systems for equipment used in oil and gas processes, has achieved NACE Level VII compliance for the Inconel X-750 springs it employs as seal energisers. It says an independent organisation has confirmed that the springs are resistant to cracking under NACE Level VII conditions as defined by MR0175/ISO 15156-3 Annex E.
