ANNOUNCEMENT
12th International Congress of Endocrinology Lisbon, Portugal August 31–September 4, 2004
Welcome to ICE 2004! On behalf of the International Society of Endocrinology it is our great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 12th International Congress of Endocrinology in Lisbon, Portugal. We hope you will enjoy the beauty and hospitality of Lisbon as well as the scientific excellence of this meeting. We anticipate more than 4,000 abstract submissions, over 8,000 scientific attendees and approximately 2,000 net m2 exhibition space for the year 2004 in Lisbon. Both basic and clinical endocrinology are developing and integrating rapidly, setting an example for many other fields in the biomedical sciences. It is also the place for dialogue between clinician and basic researcher - an interdisciplinary forum for all leading clinicians and scientists in areas such as neuroendocrinology; growth factors; development and puberty; reproductive endocrinology (including pregnancy, lactation and menopause); thyroid biology and medicine; bone biology and mineral metabolism (including osteoporosis); diabetes, obesity; hormone-dependent and hormone-producing cancers; vascular medicine (including hypertension and lipids); molecular genetics; hormonal therapeutics of aging; epidemiology and public health aspects of endocrinology. It is intended that several pharmaceutical companies will present their own research in the development of new agents and most recent experience of new treatments in scientific studies to the participants in satellite symposia.
