“Competition and Regulation in Network Industries” This is a Call for submission of papers for presentation at the above Conference. The Conference Scientific Committee consists of: Prof. Y. Katsoulacos Prof. Massimo Motta Prof. P. Rey Prof. D. Ulph The Keynote Speaker will be Professor John Vickers. Among the issues to be covered are: i) Regulation vs. Competition and optimal liberalisation policies, including issues like “when is Competition Policy-type ex post intervention not enough” ii) Access regulation, including issues of vertical separation and dynamic access regulation for stimulating competing investments iii) Institutional design. Relationship between Competition Authorities and Sectoral Regulators approaches to implementing competition rules etc. iv) Competition policy in network industries, e.g. exclusionary or collusive pricing schemes, anticompetitive contracts, interoperability choices. v) Empirical evidence from different countries on all the above. Deadline for submission of papers: 16th March, 2006. Acceptance of papers: 11th May 2007. The normal editorial process of refereeing will apply. Papers submitted for the Symposium will get a decision within 3 months of the date of submission. The Symposium Editors will be Prof. B. The School will take place from July 7th to July 20th 2007. It brings together many of the top European economists in Competition and Regulation, from over 15 distinguished EU Universities.
