‘‘Regulatory Peptides 2004’’ 15th International Symposium on Regulatory Peptides Toulouse, Centre des Congre´s, France September 19–22, 2004 Invitation You are cordially invited to participate at the 15th International Symposium on Regulatory Peptides which will be held in Toulouse, France, from September 19 to September 22, 2004. First held in 1976, the International Symposium on Gastrointestinal Hormones has expanded its scope in recognition of the role of gut peptides outside the digestive tract. In 1996, the meeting was renamed to the International Symposium on Regulatory Peptides. The 2004 meeting will focus on the major families of gut peptides and their receptors. These include CCK/gastrin, somatostatin, Secretin/VIP/PACAP, motilin, neurotensin, GIP, GLP-1. . . However, a special session will be devoted to more recently discovered peptides such as, for example, ghrelin. The objective of this 3-day symposium is to bring together investigators from multiple disciplines performing state-ofthe-art research on gut peptides and their receptors within and outside the gastrointestinal tract. Plenary sessions, including state-of-the-art lectures, and selected oral presentations will highlight recent advances in the field. The program will be organized to cover topics from basic research (biochemistry, physiology, molecular biology and pharmacology, structural biology, signal transduction) to clinical application, including new therapeutic strategies and clinical trials with peptide analogues. Special attention will be paid to innovating approaches in research on gut peptides (genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, molecular modeling). An important poster session will be organized in a way to provide the opportunity for discussions and new collaborations. Travel grants (10–20) will be available to young investigators submitting original data (not published at the time of abstract submission). In order to encourage participation, the registration fees will be at a moderate rate. The symposium will take place in ‘‘Centre des Congre´s’’ of Toulouse. Next to the city center, shops and historic sites, the Congress Center offers an ideal modern equipment and work atmosphere. The central location and quality of hotels on the congress center site or in the center of Toulouse help delegates enjoy the charm and warm atmosphere of Toulouse, one of the most beautiful and in lively cities of France. A wide choice of hotels in downtown Toulouse will be offered. Please encourage your colleagues to participate in this international gathering to share innovative thoughts, ideas and scientific findings. See you in Toulouse! Preliminary Programme REGPEP2004 will focus on the following topics: – Regulatory peptides: Development of neuroendocrine cells, Phylogeny, Gene regulation, Propeptide processing. – Effects, Mechanisms of action (receptors, signalling..) and Applications of regulatory peptides: Somato statin; Gastrin and cholecystokinin; VIP, PACAP, Secretin; Ghrelin and Motilin; GLP-1 and GIP, etc. . . – ‘‘Bioinformatics and computational biology’’ and on ‘‘Methodological approaches for studying molecular interactions’’ (mini-workshops). Submit an abstract to the ‘‘15th International Symposium on Regulatory Peptides, REGPEP2004’’! Online abstract submission open from March 1st to May 15th, 2004.
