The Journal of the American D ental Association RAILROAD R A T E S TO BUFFALO, N. Y.

T h e American Dental Association has discontinued the use of the Identification Convention Certificate, and again this year is using the “Certificate Plan.” T h e certificates w ill be obtain able from your railroad agent, and N O T T H R O U G H T H IS OFFICE. F ollow ing is full in formation regarding the plan. T h e follow ing directions are submitted for your guidance: 1. Be sure that when purchasing going ticket you request a C ER TIFIC A TE. Do not make the m istake of asking fo r a "Receipt.” 2. Present yourself at the railroad station for tickets and Certificates at least 30 minutes before departure of train on which you w ill begin your journey. 3. Certificates are not kept at all stations. If you inquire at your home station, you can ascertain whether Certificates and through tickets can be obtained to place of meeting. If not obtainable at your home station, the agent w ill inform you at w hat station they can be obtained. You can in such case purchase a local ticket to the station which has Certificates in stock, where you can purchase a through ticket and at the same time ask for and obtain a Certificate to place of meeting. 4. Im m ediately on your a rriv a l at the m eeting present your Certificate to the endorsing officer, Dr. John J. Ogden, Vice-President, as the reduced fares for the return journey w ill not apply unless you are properly identified as provided for by the Certificates. 5. I t has been arranged that the Special A gen t of the C arriers w ill be in attendance on Septem ber 13 to X5 from 8:80 a. m. to 5:80 p. m., to va lid a te Certificates. If you arrive at the meeting later than September 15, after the Special Agent has left, you cannot have your Cer tificate validated and consequently you w ill not obtain the benefit of the reduction on the home journey. 6. Certificates issued to children at h a lf fares w ill be counted the same as Certificates held by adults. 7. If your Certificate is duly validated, you w ill be entitled up to and including September 20 to a return ticket v ia the same route over which you made the going journey at one-half of the regular one-w ay tariff fa re from the place of m eeting to the point at w hich your Cer tificate w as issued. (T h e iden tical route m ust be used in both going and return ing in ordeir* to benefit under the Certificate plan.) 8. Return tickets issued at the reduced fares w ill not be good on any limited train on which such reduced fare transportation is not honored. 9. No refun d of fa re w ill be m ade on account of failu re to obtain proper C ertificate when purchasing going tickets, nor on account of fa ilu re to present v a lid a ted Certificate w hen pu r chasing return ticket. A program of exceptional merit has been arranged, and w e extend to you a cordial invita tion to be present. T ransportation Com mittee O.
