ANNOUNCEMENT--SOCIETY FOR ADOLESCENT MEDICINE 1986 ANNUAL MEETING

Dear Colleague and SAM Member: Our 1986 Annual Meeting will be in Boston, Massachusetts, March 14-16, 1986. The deadline for receipt of Abstracts will be Monday, September 9, 1985. Please do not hesitate to contact me at (512) 691-6644 if you have any questions or problems. I am looking forward to another exciting meeting in 1986. Yours sincerely, Lonnie K. Zeltzer, M.D. Director of Programs

Abstract announcement: There will be three avenues for presentation in the Scientific Program for 1986: 1) a ten-minute paper presentation; 2) a ten-minute presentation of a case or series of cases; and 3) a poster presentation. Abstracts will be reviewed anonymously by a large panel of Ph.D.s and M.D.s. Each abstract will be reviewed by three members of this panel. I will make the final selections based u p o n the reviewers' ratings. The subject of the abstract may vary widely to include any area of investigation relating to adolescents. However, the paper itself cannot have beenpresented at a national meeting prior to our March meeting. Case material will be given a separate review based upon whether the cases present n e w or controversial findings likely to stimulate research. These abstracts will be subject to the same critical review of methodology and clarity as are the research abstracts. After research and case abstracts have been selected for the program, they will be designated for either the platform or poster presentation. Assignment of accepted abstracts will be based u p o n the content of the abstract rather than on quality. All platform papers should be ten minutes in length followed by a five-minute question-and-answer period. Information regarding the format for

posters will be sent to those presenters whose abstracts are accepted for poster presentation. Abstracts must conform to the format described under Abstract Information. I will be glad to help anyone who has questions about abstract writing. If you have never written an abstract before, you may want to ask someone w h o has had this experience to review it so you can make any necessary changes before submission. Abstracts must be received in my office by September 9, 1985, to be considered for presentation. Authors whose papers are accepted for presentation will be notified by October 1, 1985. Please do not hesitate to contact me at (301) 528-3542 if you have any questions or problems. I look forward to a high-quality Scientific Program. Yours sincerely, Sheridan A. Phillips, Ph.D. Abstract Selection Chairman

DEADLINE: Abstracts must reach Dr. Phillips by
