METALAST International offers an anodizing process that implements the five elements of the METALAST system, which assures the anodizer of a faster, smoother, and more consistent finish than currently available. The system is able to produce smooth, even-colored finishes on previously diffkultto-anodize cast alloys (i.e., 380,390,518, etc.). Electrical conductivity can also be restored to the anodic oxide utilizing a unique patented process. This technology is compatible with 5pe II and Qpe III anodizing and offers an environmentally friendly electrolyte.

Alumitec Products Corp. has introduced a new method of applying their organic sealants to anodized aluminum. Because the sealants (Alum& D, the standard, and Alumitec FC, for incidental food contact) float on water, tanks can be filled with up to 90% water, with a relatively thin layer of sealant. Capital cost of filling the tank can be reduced by up to 90%. Panels of 2024 aluminum, sealed by immersion through a layer of Alumitec D into water at ambient temperatures, showed no corrosion after 1,938 hours ASTM B 117 salt spray exposure.
