ANTI-POLLUTION ATTACHMENT FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES Roy H V Finlay An apparatus for improving the combustion in the engine cylinders and simultaneously reducing the pollutants in the exhaust gases from the engine and directs a portion thereof into a mixing chamber where it comes into intimate contact with air/fuel mixture to preheat the air/fuel mixture. The mixing chamber is provided with a centrally located stator vane assembly which imparts a swirling motion to the gases therein. The base of the stator vane assembly serves as a heat sink to conduct and transmit heat to the stator vanes since its upper and lower disk-like surfaces are exposed to the hot exhaust gases which have been recycled back into the engine.

More particularly, this process comprises injecting into the effluent droplets of a mixture comprising ammonia and an enhancer selected from the group consisting of hexamethylenetetraamine, a lower carbon alcohol, sugar, furfural, furfural derivatives, a hydroxyl amino hydrocarbon, an amino acid, a protein-containing composition, mixtures of and para-methyl phenols, orthq-,. meta-, guamdme, guanidine carbonate, biguanidine, guanylurea sulfate, melamine, dicyandiamide, biuret, 1, l’calcium cyanamide, azobisformamide, methyl01 urea, methyl01 ureaurea condensation product, dimethylol urea, methyl urea, dimethyl urea, and mixtures thereof, under conditions effective to reduce the concentration of nitrogen oxides in the effluent.
