he AORN awards for outstanding accomplishments during the past year will be presented at the newly designed Awards Reception, Sweet Success, on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 6 PM at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel. Recipients of individual outstanding achievement, chapter, and writing awards will be recognized. For more information about the Awards Reception, visit http://www.aorn.org/SweetSuccess.

OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS Because of an extension of the award packet deadline, the names of the individual award winners will not be announced in this issue. Winners in the individual award categories will be announced in the February 2008 issue of the Journal.

In order to assist chapters in submitting a successful project, the judging criteria have been included in the chapter awards packet. Gold, silver, and bronze awards are given in each chapter size category (ie, small, medium, intermediate, large). One chapter will be selected as Chapter of the Year, representing the best submission among all size categories. CHAPTER EXCELLENCE AWARDS

WRITERS CONTEST AWARDS

Members of each chapter applying for an award have developed presentations in the format of their choosing that best tells the story of their outstanding project, activity, service, program, or collection of activities. Submissions should reflect activities or programs conducted between April 1, 2006, and January 1, 2008. The deadline to submit a project to be considered for a Chapter Excellence Award is January 18, 2008. Entries will be judged by the AORN Awards Committee. All Chapter Excellence presentations should convey the effect or outcome of the project or

The Writers Contest Awards recognize authors of quality AORN Journal articles. Four article categories are included in this contest—clinical, education, management, and research. For an article to be considered, at least one author of a manuscript must be an RN and an AORN member. All Journal authors whose articles meet this requirement and whose articles are published during the calendar year preceding Congress are eligible for the contest. Winning articles in each category are chosen based on points awarded by Journal editors, review panel members, and editorial board members.
