Two-week courses Developing Leadership Skills: A Model for the Nursing Manager in the OR Develop your background in managerial leadership concepts and skills and then apply them to your work setting-the surgical suite. This course is designed to help improve your competence in modern management techniques and enhance your capacity for analysis and decision making. A practicum is included. Registrants should have potential for management responsibility, at least one year’s experience in clinical nursing, and current RN licensure. Perioperative Role: The Nursing Process in Action Are you concerned about how you will develop the knowledge and skills to assume the perioperative role? The approach to implementation of the perioperative role is based on AORN’s Standards of Nursing Practice: OR. Using the nursing process, course participants will focus on the OR nurse’s actions throughout a patient’s surgical experience to develop greater depth in their knowledge and nursing skills. This will be necessary to imple-

ment the perioperative role. A guided clinical experience will be included. Registrants must have one year of OR experience and current RN licensure. Two-day seminars Nursing Audit: Challenge to the OR Nurse Participants will receive information and assistance in developing tools for evaluating the quality of nursing care in the OR and its results to their patients. During the seminar, you will write standards and establish audit tools. On return to your hospital, you will be able to apply new understanding of nursing standards and nursing audit as you implement these concepts in your work setting. 12 contact hours (1.2 CEU) Fee: AORN member-$50; nonmember-$70 Dates: Nov 15 and 16, 1979 April 17 and 18, 1980 Course leader: Julia A Kneedler, RN, EdD, AORN assistant director of education

Journey into the OR Nurse’s Self-concept As an operating room nurse, capitalize on your potential for success by analyzing assertive, manipulative, and depressive behaviors that influence your interpersonal relationships at work. This course examines how these behaviors can be managed constructively and explores methods that will enhance self-
