Henry H. Gregg Lascoff Memorial Award winner To H enry H . Gregg of Minneapolis, Minnesota will go the 1966 J. Leon Lascoff Memorial Award by the American College of Apothecaries. ACA will present this award at its annual meeting in Boston, Massachusetts, October 14- 18. Pharmacist Gregg was born in Virginia and raised in Minneapolis where he served his apprenticeship as a pharmacist with his father. After serving in the Army in World War I, Gregg was in partnership with his father until he opened his own pharmacy in 1929, where he specialized in prescription service. Active in pharmaceutical association affairs, the Lascoff Award winner has been a member of APHA since 1933 and has served as chairman of the House of Delegates, vice-president, president (1950), and councillor. In addition he has been secretary and president of the Minneapolis Retail Druggists' Association and the local APHA chapter. Gregg has been a fellow of ACA since 1947, serving as president in 1960. Spicing the program of the annual ACA meeting will be speakers and panels on a variety of subjects ranging from com munications to community services. Prior to the opening session, there will be meetings of the judicial council and the board of directors plus a reception for the outgoing president. At the opening session Saturday morning, the keynote address will be given by Herman V. LaMark, first deputy commissioner for administration and finance for Massachusetts, who will speak on communications. The same day, a panel of ACA fellows and 558

speakers from FDA and the pharmaceutical industry will develop guidelines in the selection of quality drugs. The day's formal program will end with the induction of new fellows . Stress on Sunday will be on membership with a special session for nonmembers which will cover topics such as competition for the professional pharmacist, patient records and professional fees. An outline of ACA's activities and policies will conclude the session . Continued education plays a part in the Monday morning program with lectures on radio pharmaceuticals, new penicillins and psychotherapeutic agents. The afternoon schedule begins with papers by ACA fellows on contract welfare programs, rubber stamps, contact lens solutions and certification. Robert F . Steeves, director of APHA's legal division, will head a panel discussion on employer-employee relations and Sidney Farber, MD , will speak on the status of cancer research. Installation of officers and presentation of the J. Leon Lascoff Memorial Award will highlight the annual reception and banquet on Monday evening. Tuesday's program includes a conference on pharmaceutical service t o extended care facilities and small hospitals and a final business session . Ladies' events will start on Friday with the president's reception, follQW through with a coffee on Saturday, a Boston historic tour and lobster dinner on Sunday and a luncheon and fashion show on M onday. •
