TARGETING ZERO WITH SCIENCE Central to APIC’s Vision 2012—a multiyear strategic plan for the profession— is Targeting Zero, the belief that every healthcare institution should be working toward the goal of zero healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). While not all HAIs are preventable, APIC believes that all organizations should set the goal of elimination and strive for zero preventable infections. Because every HAI affects the life of a patient, even one HAI should feel like one too many. To assist you in this effort, APIC provides a comprehensive package of education, research and guidance tools—including infection-specific Elimination Guides. APIC Elimination Guides translate the science into practice for frontline healthcare teams. For more information on the Targeting Zero campaign and APIC resources, please visit www.apic.org.
