FIRST ENVIRONMENTAL SPENDING GROWTH IN 7 YEARS The BTI Consulting Group’s annual survey of environmental managers shows a 6 per cent increase in environmental spending planned for 1999.
This marks the first time in sevenyearsthat US industry is increasing its environmental spending. “Industrial companies are making real headway in improving their environmental performance and finding it is reducing their costs,” observes Michael Rynowecer, president of Boston-basedBTI Consulting Group. “We also see the economy driving companies against permit limits sooner than they anticipated due to strong underlying business. This is driving more strategic spending to support businessneeds.”
EVTN’S VENEZUELAN VENTURE Enviro Voraxial Technology (EVTN) recently hosted a team of Venezuelan environmental and oil spill experts, at its Deerfield Beach facility.
The Venezuelan team viewed demonstrations of EVTN’s patented voraxial separator, which could be used to clean up an extremely toxic chemical spill in Venezuelan ocean water. WARMAN WINS ATP AERATOR CONTRACT In Australia, Warman International’s Separation Equipment Group is to provide eight surface aerators to Sydney Water’s Penrith sewage treatment plant in a contract worth more than A$350 000.
The sewageworks is being upgraded from trickle filter tanks to aerobic digestors, to achieve greater nitrogen and phosphorous removal from the effluent. The 37kW, 18SkW and 15kW units will be manufactured at Warman’s Artarmon headquarters.
