Aquarion adds to water technology portfolio with Hager + Elsaesser acquisition

S

wiss EPC solutions provider Aquarion Group has bought the assets of German water technology company Hager + Elsaesser GmbH. Hager + Elsaesser’s flagship technologies include proprietary biological, thermal and membrane solutions for the semiconductor and microelectronics, power generation, petrochemical (downstream), solar, pulp and paper, food and beverage production, and pharmaceutical industries. Based in Stuttgart, Hager + Elsaesser has an assembly workshop in Dresden, Germany and subsidiaries in the UK, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. “This acquisition is an important development for Aquarion, enhancing our portfolio of technologies and solutions, expanding our presence around the world, and adding the expertise and experience of this

world-leading company to our existing team,” said Aquarion CEO Karl Michael Millauer. Thomas Will, chief operating officer of Aquarion AG and former managing director of Hager + Elsaesser, will run Hager + Elsaesser as its CEO. COMMENT With the acquisition of Hager + Elsaesser, Aquarion is now a major player in the global water treatment business with annual revenues of more than 70 million. Other Aquarion Group companies include Aquarion Water GmbH in Germany, GEMWATER srl in Italy and H2Oil & Gas Ltd in Scotland. ■

LiqTech to purchase Provital Solutions

L

iqTech International Inc has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the operations of Provital Solutions A/S, a Danish water solutions company specialising in integrated filtration solutions for the swimming pool and spa markets. Hobro, Denmark-headquartered Provital Solutions was set up in 2009 to sell filtration solutions based exclusively on LiqTech’s ceramic membranes for the pool and spa industry. As well as designing and supplying large SiC liquid membrane systems for pools and aquaculture operators, Provital Solutions has also developed a UV hybrid disinfection technology. Provital Solutions has a sales network covering strategic regions including Scandinavia, North America and Australia, and had sales of US$2.5 million in 2013. LiqTech will acquire 100% of Provital Solutions for LiqTech shares with an

equivalent value of DKK33.6 million (US$6.1 million) and cash equalling DKK12.6 million (US$2.3 million). “Our acquisition of Provital Solutions is an important strategic and business decision. We have been very impressed with the strong growth of the company based on the significant value proposition that Provital offers to its customers, and we look forward to captializing on the complementary strengths that we expect will accelerate sales for the combined company in the future,” said LiqTech chairman Aldo Petersen. LiqTech will use the net proceeds from a recent underwritten public offering to fund a portion of the purchase price for Provital Solutions.
