Mr. Feneley is the Director of Satellite Division Corporate Affairs for Teleglobe Canada. He has been a delegate to the Inmarsat Council since February 1980, representing the investments and interests of Canada which is the sixth largest shareholder in the Organization. He has been Vice-Chairman of Council since 1984. Taking over from Mr. Feneley as Vice-Chairman, will be Mr. G. C. Hall, Director of Planning, Satellite Systems, at British Telecom International. The Inmarsat Council also appointed Mr. B. Barstad, from the Norwegian Telecommunications Administration, as Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Technical and Operational Matters (Actom), and Mr. D. Exner, of the Federal Republic of Germany’s Bundesministerium fiir das Post- und Femmeldewesen, as Vice-Chairman. The Finance committee will be chaired by Mr. R. On Friday, 28 March 1986 at 2030 hours (Kourou time, 2330 hours GMT), the Arianespace company successfully launched the following two communication satellites: G-Star 2 for the American corporation General Telephone GTE Spacenet, and Brasilsat S2 for the Brazilian company Embratel. The satellites were placed in a geostationary transfer orbit whose initial parameters are: Perigee 203.2 km for 200 km predicted 36 243 km for 36 237 km predicted Apogee Inclination 7” for 7” predicted G-Star 2 and Brazilsat S2 are the 13th and 14th satellites put into orbit by Arianespace. This first launch from the new ELA 2 launch site at Kourou (French Guiana) was carried out by an Ariane 3 launcher less than five weeks after the Ariane flight V16 launching Spot/Viiing. It has validated the European Space Agency’s new launch facilities from which Ariane 4 will be launched from late 1986. Intelsat V F14, belonging to the International Telecommunications Satellite Organisation, Intelsat, will be launched on 30 May 1986. To date Arianespace has signed 44 launch contracts.
