FIRST UNIVERSITY ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT BUILDING Engineering management reached a milestone on October 18 with the groundbreaking of what is, we believe, the first university building dedicated solely to education in our The University of Missourinew discipline. Rolla Department of Engineering Management will occupy the building. Outgoing Missouri Governor Bond was a very appropriate keynote speaker at the ceremony, since his initiative pushed a $600 million bond issue through the Missouri legislature that will finance 4/5 of the new building. The first 20% was financed through gifts from UMR alumni and friends obtained through a protracted fundraising effort led by ASEM’s Bernie Sarchet. The new building offers 25,000 square feet of useful space, divided into offices, classrooms, including a special instructional television room, computer facilities, and a large production laboratory.
