Automated Micronucleus Scoring Workshop
A workshop will be held on the automation of the scoring of micronuclei in polychromatic erythrocytes for the mouse peripheral blood micronucleus assay at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Milpitas, CA (U.S.A.) on 17 and 18 November 1988. Image analysis and flow cytometric techniques for the automation of this scoring will be presented. Representatives from image analyzer and flow cytometry companies will be present to discuss the approaches to automate scoring which they have developed. Image analyzer systems will be set up and automated techniques developed by attending scientists and companies will be available for hands-on demonstration of software. Flow cytometric techniques will be presented by both company representatives and scientists from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories. Automation of micronucleus scoring in bone marrow polychromatic erythrocytes and in nucleated cell assays also will be evaluated. Specific focus in this area will be on the automation of micronuclei scoring for the bone marrow micronucleus and the lymphocyte/cytocholasin block assays. Scientists with experience with these assays, the instrumentation, or both are invited to apply to participate in this workshop. For more information please contact: Dr. Frederick B. Oleson (Committee Chairman), Pathology and Toxicology Department, Bristol-Myers Company, P.O. Box 4755, Syracuse, NY 13221-4755 (U.S.A.) (315) 432-2067. Committee: John A. Heddle (York University), James T. MacGregor (USDA Western Regional Research Center), James D. Tucker (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory).
