ohn Stone is professor of medicine (cardiology) at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. His poetry and prose have appeared in four books, the most recent being tn the Country of Hearts essays on both the literal and metaphorical hearts. Where Water Begins: New Poems and Prose will be published by Louisiana State University' in November. i 9 9 8 . He is also co-editor (with Richard Reynolds) of On Doctoring: Stories, Poems, Essays, an anthology of literature dealing with medicine. Over several / summers, happily, Dr Stone has taught at University College, Oxford, UK, as part of the Emory Summer l Studies Program
