Process for forming a seal for a turbine engine Applicant: Dynamic Metals Llc, USA A process for forming a turbine engine seal has been developed and forms the subject of this patent. It involves a series of steps. First an asymmetric profile is formed in a flat strip of material using a rolling process. The formed asymmetric profile is then coiled into an overlapping ring shape, and the circular shape is cut to a predetermined length, and the ends are joined to form the seal. The seal includes at least two “peaks” that are formed on opposing sides of a gap. These peaks contact opposing sides of a U-shaped profile at a zero radius. The latter is surrounded in part by a dielectric material. Part of this device is a “probe” that is composed of the lower central conductor, which connects to the central conductor. One or more resilient metal seals can be employed to form a hermetic seal around a portion of the probe. The metal seal protects the dielectric material such that the hermetic seal is isolated from a process and temperature shock. The metal seal (or seals) can be further mated with one or more insulators and one or more gaskets. The metal seals provide a thermal and mechanical barrier and are resistant to chemicals. In one non-limiting embodiment it includes a tubular member that has at least one packer to isolate a zone between the completion assembly and the well-bore, and a flow-control device for closing off the flow of fluid through the tubular member. This flow-control device incorporates a valve that includes a fluid flowpath and a seal member configured to close the fluid flow-path, and a fluid-activated device that cycles each time a pressure differential is created across the flow path and moves the seal member to close the valve after completion of a selected number of cycles.
