Best Nursing Review Paper guidelines 1999 announcement (sponsorship amendment) Introduction This annual prize for the best nursing review paper submitted to the Annual Australian and New Zealand Scientific Meeting on Intensive Care will be sponsored in accordance with the ASM organising committee sponsor arrangements. As with previous years a substantial prize is associated with this award.
Requirements • The prize shall be awarded yearly, at the annual Australian and New Zealand Scientific Meeting on Intensive Care, to the author of the best nursing paper. • Each candidate may submit only one paper for the Best Nursing Review award, and the entire review shall be the work of the candidate as sole author. • All candidates must be members of CACCN Inc. • The national CACCN Inc. executive will appoint at least three judges, including representatives from the meeting’s scientific committee, the CACCN Inc. national executive and one or more judges independent of these two groups. • If no presentation is of a satisfactory standard, the award will not be made. • The award will be based on the quality of the review. The judges shall award marks for: – the originality of the review; – the value of the review as a resource on the topic chosen; – the relevance and importance of the review topic to current critical care practice;
• All candidates are encouraged to also develop a form of the paper for oral presentation (with slides), as the winner will have only 4 weeks after notification to make sure their conference presentation, including slides, is ready. Candidates are expected to organise their own registration and travel arrangements to participate in the presentation. • Candidates shall be required to submit a completed application form by the specified date and are eligible only if that application, together with six copies of the paper, is received by the meeting convenor by the closing date, which is advertised below. Address correspondence to the contact as advised. • The judges’ decision will be final. • The winner, and perhaps other candidates, will be encouraged to submit the review to Australian Critical Care for possible publication.
