Oxazolidine

curing agents

Industrial Copolymers Ltd in the UK has introduced two oxazolidine curing agents which are said to be suitable for use in polyurethane coatings, sealants and elastomers. They are marketed as the Incozol range. Both products are said to enable rapid curing of aliphatic-based moisture-triggered systems without carbon dioxide gassing and subsequent ‘pin-holing’ of the cured material. Also referred to as ‘latent hardeners’, they remain inactive until application, whereupon they hydrolyze to reveal active amine and hydroxyl functions. Incozol 4 is a urethane biz-oxazolidine for general use, while Incozol LV exhibits a considerably lower viscosity than conventional products of this type.
