THE whole pTofession, and esp ecially his o ld stud e nts, will learn with r egret of the resig nation from the p ost of Prin cipal of the R oyal Veterinary 'College, Lo ndon, of Professor Sir J ohn McFadyea n, as it severs the s tronges t link which has ever exist ed in th e cha in b etween the lab oratory a nd veterin a ry practitione rs; no t only of Britis h natio nali ty (for science r ecog ni ses no d iffe rences in t h is r espect ), but a ll ove r th e civilised world . It is quite impossible to over- estimate th e great influe nce he h as h ad in advancing the position of the vet erinary professio n in Great Britain, a nd to attempt to d etail a hundredth part of the work h e has done fo r us wou ld fill a volume. Hi o:· work is well kno wn to eve ryone, a nd his well-thought-out opinion h as a lways been freely g iven , b oth to stud ent a nd prac titioner, upon r eq uest .
