Consolidated Water expands water plant in Bahamas

S

eawater desalination plant developer and operator Consolidated Water Co Ltd is to increase the daily production capacity of Water and Sewerage Corp’s Blue Hill plant in Nassau, Bahamas, by approximately 67% to 12 million US gallons per day. Consolidated Water has agreed to finance the design and construction of the new plant and will operate and maintain the expanded facility during the term of the extended agreement.

Black & Veatch secures Singapore water reclamation contract

lack & Veatch is to provide engineering design services for the expansion of PUB’s Changi water reclamation plant in Singapore. The expansion involves retrofitting an additional treatment process to the existing treatment facility. Black & Veatch will provide engineering consultancy for the addition of a membrane filtration treatment process within the Changi water reclamation plant and supervise its installation. The addition enables PUB to increase the plant’s capacity by up to 60 000 cubic metres per day of reclaimed water.

Hyflux to develop Chinese wastewater treatment plant

S

ingapore’s Hyflux Ltd is to build a RMB200 million wastewater treatment plant to treat up to 150 000 m3 of domestic wastewater per day for Zunyi City in north Guizhou province, China. Hyflux, through its subsidiary in China, will develop the project on a Build-OwnTransfer arrangement. Hyflux will undertake the design and engineering, procurement

and construction works, and will also operate and maintain the plant on a 30-year concession. Project construction is expected to be completed in the second half of 2012.

Suez Environnement partnership awarded Adelaide water services contract

S

uez Environnement and its subsidiary Degrémont, in partnership with Transfield Services, are to supply water and wastewater services to 1.1 million people in Adelaide, Australia. The partners will oversee the entire water cycle, which includes operating and maintaining six water treatment plants, six purification plants, the 16 000 km water network, as well as recycled water schemes and minor capital works. The 10-year alliance contract could generate revenues of E840 million and includes an optional six-year extension. The contract will start in July 2011.

United Envirotech wins wastewater treatment and recycling project in China

U

nited Envirotech Ltd is to acquire, upgrade and operate the centralised wastewater treatment and recycling plant for the Tangshan-Nanpu Economic Development Zone in Hebei province, China. The S$55 million Transfer-OperateTransfer (TOT) project involves the acquisition of an existing 80 000 m3/day wastewater treatment plant and a 40 000 m3/day wastewater recycling plant, upgrading of the plant and operating it for a 30-year concession period. United Envirotech will form a 50/50 joint venture with the Singapore hollow fibre membrane manufacturer Memstar Technology Ltd to undertake this project in China.
