Blumoller misses Norwegian sales in 2001 results In fiscal 2001/01 the Danish washing powder manufacturer Blumoller reported a profit of DKR 67 M after tax and a turnover of DKR 587 M. Both figures were slightly down on the previous year because Blumoller has transferred the sale of a number of products on the Norwegian market to a new Norwegian firm which is part of the Sara Lee concern. The 151 employees at Odense manufacture products such as Neutral and Bio-tex washing powders and also market care products such as Zendium and Sanex. Unilever CR has good results in the Czech Republic Unilever CR (Prague, Czech Republic), chemical and food products company, is seeing good results in the Czech Republic in production as well as distribution in 2002. Cognis restarts New Jersey plant Cognis restarted production at its surfactants plant in Hoboken, NJ, US following a leak of chlorosulfonic acid on 4 Oct 2002. The resumption of alkanolamides, amine oxides, amphoteric surfactants and betaines was resumed on 14 Oct 2002. Normal lead times can be expected in 2-4 weeks. Sulfate customers are continuing to be supplied from Kankakee, IL, US, with normal supply expected within 4-6 weeks.

Seba Pharma makes new plunge Another German company has ventured onto the Russian market. Seba Pharma GmbH & Co KG presented its skin care products in Moscow for the first time in mid-Oct. They will be sold under the Sebamed name. The company had tried to begin marketing in Russia eight years ago but failed to find the right partner. It has now found a marketing professional in the shape of Moscow company Onyx-Pharma. With a market share of 38%, Seba Pharma is number one in the soaps business in Germany. The company has 200 employees and sales were over €70 M in 2001. The export quota is 36%.

Godrej Sara Lee to distribute Kiwi cleaners

Rhodia adopts innovative alliances to foster product development

Sara Lee has offloaded a part of distribution of its Kiwi brand of cleaning products to its joint venture partner, the Rup 4.22 bn Godrej Sara Lee. Sara Lee does not have a substantial network in India, whereas Godrej Sara Lee has a network of about 500,000 retail outlets. Kiwi range of products includes Dranex, a drain cleaner and Kleen Flush, a liquid toilet cleaner and drops in blocks for cleaning sanitaryware. Sara Lee’s 100% subsidiary in India will continue to manufacture and market Kiwi range of cleaning products.
