Increased accuracy of pressure readings TEM Engineering Ltd of Crawley have announced that all their popular Model 513 projection micromanometers are now supplied with individual calibration certificates. The use of the correction factor provided enables reliable and repeatable pressure readings to be taken to within *0.059/o of full scale. Two versions of this versatile and robust water-filled instrument are available: Model 513L having scales of 600 mm, 60 mb or 24 in., (equivalent to 6 kPa or 0.87 Ibf/in.) ; Model 513s having scales of 300 mm, 30 mb or 12 in., (equivalent to 3 kPa or 0.43 Ibf/in.).

This environmental chamber recorder has application in environmental testing facilities and in temperature controlled storage rooms. It has an unusually wide range of from a - 100” to +150” F or C on a single 10 in. diameter circular chart. Increased consumer emphasis on product reliability and safety has resulted in an increased demand for endurance tests at the widest range of temperatures to which products may be exposed. These tests are generally conducted in chambers specifically constructed for such purpose. Record must be kept of the temperature level and duration of such test. The Dickson Environmental Chamber Recorder provides an inexpensive and compact method of recording the test information. For most applications, the standard instrument with a single chart rotation in 24 h provides the most useful test or monitoring data. Similar recorders are available in other temperature ranges and with either 24 h or 7 day chart rotation. The wall-mounted case allows the instrument to be located at a convenient point and its operation viewed through the glass window in the case door. An 8 ft double stainless steel braided copper capillary terminates in a brass bulb which can be located at a convenient point within the chamber whose temperature is to be remotely recorded. OEM pressure switch with hand reset facility The gas controls manufacturers of Bristol have become aware that on gas systems incorporating boosters, the British Gas Corporation are now showing preference for equipment fitted with pressure switches which incorporate the safety interlocks required in such a system and have therefore introduced the ACTU Model LDK with hand re-set facilities. The British Gas Corporation are showing this preference because, with increasing complexity of control systems, it was the general practice on most equipment to re-set all the interlock relays on a particular control system by only one re-set button : the operator therefore re-set the equipment without ever being aware of the cause of the ‘lock out’ condition, and thus 458

By using the ACTU LDK pressure switch fitted with manual re-set facilities (Suffix RI for lockout on rising pressure) (Suffix R2 for lockout on falling pressure), it is possible to separate the overpressure and underpressure condition interlocks; these can then only be re-set by the button fitted to the cover of the instrument, thus enabling the operator to readily identify the cause of the ‘lock out’ condition. The added bonus to the system manufacturer is that using the ACTU Model LDK pressure switch fitted with manual re-set facility, is that it is usually cheaper when the cost of wiring relays, etc., are considered. The clearly visible integral illuminated viewing screen enables direct readings to be taken to 0.2 mm (0.02 mb, 0.01 in.), with further subdivisions by eye to the nearest 0.02 mm (0.002 mb, 0.001 in.). TEM Engineering Circle number

New super store Holden 8 Brooke Ltd have supplied pumping equipment for ‘Scan’ the New Debenhams Super Store at Walkden, near Manchester. Three centrifugal end suction direct driven JTV pumps have been installed in the Condenser Water system with a further two in the Chilled Water system. Two JTV pumps also circulate LPHW, from the centralised heat source, to all parts of the building. The JTV range can handle quantities of up to 2700 gpm (735 m3/h) with maximum generated heads up to 320 ft (98 m). Hot water supply requirements are handled by four Selfette quiet running in-line low pressure heating pumps. Maximum quantities and generated heads of up to 143 gpm (39 m3/h) and 29 ft (8.8 m) are catered for within this range. Holden Er Brooke Ltd Circle

Booster sets Holden Et Brooke Ltd, Manchester, who specialise in the manufacture of heat exchangers, centrifugal and high pressure reciprocating pumps, have introduced a range of packaged Booster Sets to complement their existing products. Each set is designed and custom built for any given application and the types available are constant running sets, hydro pneumatic pressure sets, direct transfer sets and hosereel sets, All sets are fully packaged and pre-wired requiring only the connection of suction and discharge pipework and the introduction of mains electric supply to the control panel. Control panels are designed with motors wired either for DCL or star delta starting. Controls include magnetic air-break contactor starters with suitably related overload relays, hand/off/auto switches for each motor, duty selector switches for the pumps, isolators, HRC main and control circuit fuses and indicator lights showing motor running and failed conditions. An audible alarm can also be provided as can a remote alarm panel. End suction unit construction centrifugal pumps are generally supplied as standard. However, in some instances either direct coupled or pulley driven pumps are offered. Holden Et Brooke Ltd Circle
