F O C U S 16%/y to 9200 tonnes in 2005. Global demand for trimellitic anhydride in powder coatings will rise by 10%/y to 37,000 tonnes in 2005. Demand for trimellitic anhydride for use in electronic applications in China will rise by 15%/y to 1600 tonnes in 2005. Globally a rise of 7%/y to 13,000 tonnes is predicted for the same period. Overall growth in demand for trimellitic anhydride on a global scale will improve by around 9%/y to 140,000 tonnes in 2005. In China demand will increase by around 18%/y to 17,000 tonnes at the same time. China has a capacity to produce 15,000 tonnes/y trimellitic anhydride but has an operating rate of just 31%. BP-Amoco intends to build a 65,000 tonnes/y trimellitic anhydride plant at Kuantan in Malaysia. A 20,000 tonnes/y unit is planned by Lonza for Singapore and a 50,000 tonnes/y facility is to be built by
