Fig. 1.
A 15 year-old male presented to the pediatric clinic with complaints of lumbar pain, leg weakness, high fever, night sweats and weight loss. There was no history of trauma and surgery. The spinal and sacroiliac magnetic resonance (MR) imagings were performed. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed lumbar 4/5 vertebrae heterogeneous hypointense on T1 weighted (T1W), and heterogeneously enhanced after contrast administration (Fig. 1). Laboratory findings showed increased Brucella IgG and IgM. According to radiological and laboratory findings, the lesions were evaluated primarily brucella spondylodiscitis. Brucella is still a world health problem in endemic regions. MR imaging is a noninvasive and highly sensitive imaging technique which should be 1st choice of imaging in the early diagnosis of brucella spondylodiscitis.
