Control of slit valve door seal pressure Applicant: Applied Materials Inc, USA This patent refers to equipment used in the manufacture of flat panel displays. As these are manufactured in larger sizes the sealing of the doors to the vacuum chambers required in the process presents a challenge. Apparatuses and methods are provided for sealing a slit valve passage. After the two components of the slit door are closed together the sealing force may be adjusted by varying the gas pressure to the seal depending on pressure conditions in the process chambers. End cap seal assembly for a lithium cell Applicant: The Gillette Co, USA This invention is directed to an end cap assembly for primary lithium cells having a wound electrode. These are typically non rechargeable cells and rupturable membranes which are an integral part of a plastic insulating sealing disk are generally not suitable because of assembly and connection requirements which are specific to such wound cells. The end cap assembly includes a current interrupter such as a positive temperature coefficient device to provide additional protection against short circuit or abnormally high current drain and is designed to be tamper proof. The cathode contact cup has one or more grooves that create rupturable metal portions exposed directly to gas within the cell interior. Publication number: WO/2008/109722 Inventors: F.J. Seal for a glow plug Applicant: Robert Bosch GmbH, Germany This invention relates to a glow plug for the combustion chamber of a diesel engine. The glow plug comprises a ceramic heating element (12) surrounded by a supporting tube (14). The ceramic element is sealed from the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine by a seal in the supporting tube. The seal material is an invar type FeNi-alloy. Method and apparatus for forming a mould-in-place gasket Applicant: Henkel Corporation, USA This relates to a method and apparatus for forming a mould-in-place gasket by liquid injection moulding. The equipment described includes a loading station for placing the work piece in the mould, an injection station for injecting a curable gasket composition onto the work piece. A curing station then applies curing energy to the gasket composition

Push/pull Belleville stack for use with Zertech MTM seal Applicant: Baker Hughes Inc, USA This patent describes a version of the Zertech metal to metal seal, described in January 2006 Sealing Technology, that includes a Bellville washer stack to maintain an axial load on the seal and retain sealing force. The flexible metalto-metal seal element (14) is energised into position by a setting/releasing sleeve (30). There is retraction ring (36) and a load preservation and unsetting sleeve (40). The resilient Bellville washers (42) are fitted between the two sleeves.

on the work piece and the ejection station ejects the work piece from the mould. A transfer system between the stations is also described. Publication number: WO/2008/112098 Inventors: R.P. Cross et al. Publication date: 18 September 2008

Brush seal assembly and method of making Applicant: Rexnord Industries LLC, USA The objective of this invention is to provide a bristle pack, brush seal that is simple and easy to manufacture. The bristles are folded over a support and joined together adjacent the support opposite a fold. A complete seal is then built up around the circumference of the support. The support is preferably a solid or braided core wire formed from a flexible metal. A rigid support may also be used. Publication number: WO/2008/112432 Inventors: A.L. Flaherty et al. Dynamic shaft seal and method of installation Applicant: Federal-Mogul Corporation, USA This patent is a refinement of what is known as a reverse seal lip configuration in which there is a reverse folded hinge portion that lies parallel and overlaps the seal lip when assembled. This configuration may be used to avoid the use of a garter spring. Although this configuration can prove useful in establishing a tight seal with relatively minimal friction in use, it does have potential problems both during assembly and in use as the hinge portion can unfold if too much friction occurs. This seal is provided with a series of radial webs between the seal lip and the outer diameter to resist unfolding. Publication number: WO/2008/112610 Inventors: B.R. Sedlar et al. Metal gasket This diesel engine glow plug is sealed from the combustion chamber by a seal of invar type material, from WO/2008/110496.

Applicant: Federal-Mogul Corporation, USA A method of treating embossed metal gaskets, such as cylinder head gaskets is described. They are manufactured from sheet material that is cold rolled
