Call for papers
Ocean Surface Waves special issue Ocean Modelling is pleased to announce a new special issue that focuses on ocean surface waves. This follows a previous special issue on waves that appeared in 2013. We invite papers that present new results and formulations in ocean wave modelling. This special issue is motivated by new results presented at recent workshops and conferences, recent funding initiatives, and the emergence of new formulations that perform demonstrably better than existing formulations, across a range of ocean environments, from deep and shallow water. While wave topics can span a broad spectrum, we are particularly interested in manuscripts that address the following topics: Wind input to waves, wave dissipation, wave-wave interactions, wave-current interactions; wave-ice interactions; coupled atmospherewave-ocean interactions, shallow water and nearshore effects, wave-mud interactions, propagation schemes, adaptive grids; Theoretical, numerical, laboratory, and observational field studies (including in situ and remotely sensed data), in coastal or global oceans, in support of innovative new approaches to ocean wave modelling, and the evaluation of new approaches; Operational forecasting, data assimilation and fusion methods in numerical wave models, wind fields for wave hindcasting or forecasting, simulation of case studies for dedicated field experiments, or storm events; Application of wave models in the interpretation of climatic characteristics of waves and storms, climate change impacts on wave climate, extremal analysis, wave reanalyses/hindcasts, impacts of waves on ocean climate, and on the coupled atmosphere-ocean climate system; Normal review and editorial processes apply. The deadline for submissions will be December 31 2014. Manuscript submissions must be fully accepted for publication no later than September 1 2015 for inclusion in the special issue. Publication date: Autumn 2015.
