Callfor Papers. T H E 46th ANNUAL MEETING of the AMERICAN ACADEMY OF CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRY will be held October 19-24, 1999, at the Sheraton Chicago, in Chicago, Illinois. Review and proceedings abstract proposals are prerequisites for acceptance of presentations for any papers, workshops, symposia, institutes, or new research posters. Topics may include normal development, pediatrics and consultation/liaison, service descriptions, training issues, biological psychiatry, emotional or neurotic disorders, diagnosis, treatment, crosscultural programs, community psychiatry, and research. Abstract proposals must be received by AACAP by March 2, 1999, or by July 1, 1999, for new research. The submission guidelines and appropriate forms are mailed to all members in late December. Mid-Year Institute. The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry will sponsor a 3-day institute on psychopharmacology, March 24-26, 1999, at the Hotel Loretto in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Mid-Year Institute immediately precedes the Annual Meeting of the Society of Professors of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, which will be held March 26-29 at the Hotel Loretto. PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLAR AWARD. Sponsored by Bristol-Myers Squibb, this award recognizes excellence among child and adolescent psychiatry residents. The award pays expenses, travel, and lodging for 1 week's tutorial with a senior Academy leader and participation in the Academy's 1999 Annual Meeting, October 19-24, 1999 in Chicago, Illinois. Each winner agrees to make a formal presentation to the other residents in his or her program about the Annual Meeting and tutorial experience. Nominations must be submitted by March 15. NORBERT AND CHARLOTTE RIEGER SERVICE AWARD. The Rieger Service Program Award for Excellence recognizes innovative service or treatment programs that directly contribute to the community and serve as a model program for others. The $5,000 award will be distributed as follows: $1,000 to the nominee, $3,000 to the program, and $1,000 to cover direct costs associated with attendance at the Annual Meeting. NATHAN CUMMINGS FOUNDATION AWARD. Formerly known as the Beatrice Cummings Mayer Award, the award of $5,000 is given for the most significant article published in the Journal of the American Academy of Child andAdolescent Pychiar/y on suicide or depression in the July-June issues.
