The Editor replies: The Journal has egg on its logo!
To the Editor:
J. McD.
The Academy's Journal should, I think, set standards for the use of the English language that are as high as those it claims for scientific status. On p. 450 of the May issue, there appears a Debate Forum entitled, "Resolved: There is No Special Developmental Consideration in Adolescence Mitigating against Capital Punishment ..." The word should, of course, be "militating"; one might look for "mitigating" circumstances in such a situation, but I find none in this case.
