Method of centrifugally casting plural layered cylinders and forming longitudinally spaced annular reinforcements and helical reinforcements therein Piccioli, D. and Schmid, C. (Soffra Etablissement) US Pat 3 923 93 7 (2 Dec 19 75) A process for obtaining a hollow cylindrical body having a support structure of reinforced thermosetting resin.

Method of making corrosion resistant metal fiber reinforced plastic composites Humphries, D. V. (Bethlehem Steel Corporation) US Pat 3 923 945 (2 Dec 19 75) The method consists of chopping ferrous metal wires into discrete segments; chopping sacrificial metal wires (having a greater electronegativity than iron) into discrete segments; and blending predetermined proportions of the fibres, and dry granules of a resin together into a uniform mix. This blend of ferrous metal fibres, sacrificial metal fibres and resin granules is heated in mould and then cooled to form a metal reinforced plastics composite.

Composite materials Meyer, R. (Ugine Carbone) US Pat 3 923 946 (2Dec 1975) A process for manufacturing a rigid composite material. Consisting of a mixture of particles of non-porous metal of high mechanical strength and high ductility and an organic thermosetting or thermoplastic resinous plastics material which has high mechanical strength and strong adhesion to the metal particles.

Organic resin coated glass fibers coated with unsaturated fatty acid ester Ward, J. E. Jr and Garick, B. B. (Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corporation) US Pat 3 924 04 7 (2 Dec 19 75) Apparatus for applying reinforcement zones to sheet material Lowe, W. F. and Bondy, H. L. (E-Z Machine Corporation) US Pat 3 925 144 (9 Dec 19 75) A device for applying patches of a strip of resilient thermally adhesive material to a substrate. Sizing, coating and combined sizing and coating composition for glass fibres Fahey, D. M. (PPG Industries) US Pat 3 925 286 (9 Dec 19 75) An aqueous coating composition for coating glass fibres consisting of: 20 to 70% by weight of a latex, and a rubber adhesive, with the remainder being water; the rubber adhesive is a resorcinal formaldehyde resin. Process for the production of carbon f'flaments Kimmel, R. M., Riggs, J. P., Swander, R. W. and Whitney, W. (Celanese Corp) US Pat 3 925 524 f9 Dec 1975) A process for the production of a carbon filament from a dry spun acrylic filament selected from the group consisting of an acrylonitrile homopolymer and an acrylonitrile copolymer.

Method of making a molded fiber glass and resin structure with interlocked and bonded walls Pukszta, P. Jr US Pat 3 923 951 (2 Dec" 1975) A method of moulding a fibregiass reinforced structure having a number of sidewalls interconnected by at least two spaced apart layers.

Pervious low density carbon fiber reinforced composite articles Park, I. K. (Celanese Corp) US Pat 3 925 58 7 (9 Dec .J 9 75) A pervious, low density carbon fibre reinforced composite article having a pore volume of approximately 10 to 75% by volume of the total composite article and a bulk density of about 0.4 to 1.4 cm 2 which consists of at least one layer of carbon tape of an open weave construction and a fibrous weft pick containing at least 90% carbon by weight interlaced with the warp ends in a plain weave construction, and a substantially cured thermosetting resinous material in close contact with the carbon tape.

Process of making pyrolytic graphitesilicon carbide microcomposites Olcott, E. L. (Atlantic Research Corporation) US Pat 3 924 034 (2 Dec 1975)

Fiber-loaded windshield wiper superstructure Cone, I. C. (The Gates Rubber Co) US Pat 3 925 844 (16 Dec 1975) An elongated yoke for a windshield wiper superstructure made with a

polymeric matrix, in which are embedded fibres having a tensile strength greater than that of the polymeric matrix alone. More of the fibres are oriented longitudinally with respect to the elongated yoke than in any other single direction - this longitudinal orientation is more prevalent near the outer surface of the yoke.

Composite materials Sambrook, D. J. (Imperial Metal Industries (Kynoch) Limited) US Pat 3 925 882 (16 Dec 1975) A method of manufacturing a metal composite material in which a number of longitudinally extending elements of a non-ferromagnetic metal (having a low electrical resistivity) are assembled together; each element is separated from the other elements by a layer of a metal having a higher electrical resistivity. A can containing a number of alternate segments of a low electrical resistivity metal and a metal of higher electrical resistivity, is formed; the assembled elements in the can are located to form an assembly, and this is then secured and extended to produce corresponding filaments and to bond metallurgically the components of the assembly securely together. Carbonaceous tapes Burns, K. S. and Ferment, G. R. (Celanese Corporation) US Pat 3 926 228 (16 Dec 1975) A tape of sateen weave construction, suitable for use as a fibrous reinforcing medium when incorporated in a matrix material, consisting of at least 32 adjoining, parallel linear warp ends of a carbonaceous fibrous material, coextensive with the length of the tape, and a fibrous weft pick interlaced with the warp ends at a number of points. Composite wire and method of making Sexton, P. (Texas Instruments Incorporated) US Pat 3 926 573 (16 Dec 1975) A composite metal wire consiting of a core of aluminium material having a selected annealing temperature and a cladding of a copper material having an annealing temperature which is relatively higher than the lowest annealing temperature of the aluminium material. The core material is in a fully annealed condition and the cladding material, metallurgically bonded to the core, is in a fully workhardened condition.
