Caring for the Elderly The development of regional, comprehensive and integrated care systems for the elderly can be witnessed in many European countries. The European Health Policy Forum is devoting its 46th Meeting to ‘Caring for the elderly in Catalunya: Responding to needs and costs - A model for Europe’s Health Regions?’ This 2nd Joint Meeting with the Consorci Hospitalari de Catalunya will be held on 2-3 May, 1991 at the Hotel Bemat II, Calella. Quality Assurance in Health Care The International Society for Quality Assurance will hold its 8th Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, U.S.A. on 29-31 May, 1991. The scientific programme will cover the following topics: using quality measures to improve care, improving the quality of medical information, using practice guidelines to approve the appropriateness of surgical services, measuring and increasing patient satisfaction, improving quality in the care of the elderly. On May 28th a Spanish pre-symposium workshop on ‘Mttodos de asegurar cualidad’ will be held. On June 1st a post-Symposium Forum on Hospital Accreditation will be organized.
