The yarn is made of a fluorinated cation exchange resin precursor with a sulphonyl functional monomer and a mole ratio of non-functional to functional monomer of 2.8 11.8:1. High inner pressure heavy duty pneumatic radial tyre including folded belt layers Kadota, K. (Bridgestone Corporation, Tokyo, Japan) US Pat 4966214 (30 October 1990) The tyre comprises a carcass, bead cores and a belt. The carcass is made of a number of organic fibre cord layers laminated in a toroidal shape, with at least one of the plies being turned up about a pair of bead cores. The cords in a carcass layer are arranged parallel to each other and at an angle of 70 90 ° to the equatorial plane of the tyre. The belt comprises at least two sets of organic fibre cords arranged in an even number of packing layers with a reinforcing layer folded round it. The cords in the layers are arranged parallel to each other and at angle of 10-70 ° to the equatorial plane of the tyre. Tyre pair for a two-wheeled vehicle Oka, T. (Bridgestone Corporation, Tokyo, Japan) US Pat 4966215 (30 October 1990) Front and rear tyres, each of which includes a carcass layer made of at least one layer of organic fibre cords and a belt layer made of at least two layers of different widths, are described. The widest belt layer is radially innermost in the front tyre and radially outermost in the rear tyre. Heavy duty radial tyres with metallic carcass ply Kawasaki, K., Umezawa, Y. and Sugawara,

T. (Bridgestone Corporation, Tokyo, Japan) US Pat 4966216 (30 October 1990) The tyre comprises at least one carcass ply containing metal cords obtained by twisting three to five metallic filaments, each of 0.130.32 mm diameter, together. The cords are arranged at 90 ° to the equator o f the tyre.
Composites made of fibre reinforced resin elements joined by adhesive Hertzberg, P.E. (The Boeing Company, Seattle, WA, USA) US Pat 4966802 (30 October 1990) A fibre-reinforced composite panel, formed of a lay-up of fibre plies and a resin matrix and at least one similarly formed elongated reinforcing member, are held together by a high shear strength, high toughness, thermosetting resin adhesive layer. The adhesive resin has a higher shear strength and is a different resin to that used to form the matrix of the body. Packaging casing based on cellulose having improved processing characteristics Hammer, K.-D., Winter, H. and Krag, G. (Hoechst Aktiengesellschaft, Frankfurt am Main, FRG) US Pat 4967798 (6 November 1990) A tubular casing comprises: (1) a fibre-reinforced cellulose base tube with an outer cellulose layer which is produced by impregnating and coating a tubular fibrous substance with viscose and precipitating the viscose to give a fibre-reinforced cellulose hydrate gel; and (2) a rough outer surface layer of water-insoluble cationic resin and particles or fibres of cellulose or a synthetic resin. The outer surface layer is applied by coating the tube with an aqueous dispersion of the water-soluble cationic resin with 0.5 10 weight% of particles or fibres and then drying to convert the resin to its insoluble cross-linked form. Pneumatic tyre having carcass ply end portions anchored in each bead bundle Holroyd, E. and Wright, A.R. (Apsley Metals Limited, UK) US Pat 4967821 (6 November 1990) A radial carcass pneumatic tyre with a pair of axially spaced annular bead bundles has a single continuous cord reinforced carcass ply extending between them such that the support elements are held a series of cord loops which form the end of the ply. Composite coupling having hubs connectable to drive and driven members McGuire, D.P. (Lord Corporation, Erie, PA, USA) US Pat 4968286 (6 November 1990) A coupling for transmitting torque and accommodating misalignment between a drive member and a driven member is described, which comprises a rigid ring encircling a longitudinal axis along and a pair of rigid hubs on the axis but within the ring. The hubs are connectable to the drive and driven members respectively by pins which are orientated perpendicularly to the longitundinal axis. A filament is geodesically wrapped round the rigid ring and the pins to couple the hubs together, and the windings are impregnated with a matrix material.
